***You'll receive access to the album (as a bonus track) once you purchase the album on bandcamp--the file is hidden until it's purchased.***
This is a ~1hr collage of songs, spoken word, and cut ups--one long moving piece.
Grief & Love is a culmination of the last 7 years of my life--from hitting my rock bottom; to picking up the pieces & trying to make sense of it all; to learning to grieve & to let love in; to finding meaning, purpose, and contentment.
I've intended & attempted to record this album many times over the last 3 years.
It's the most challenging, painful, and vulnerable art piece I've ever made and I am so proud of it.
This is not the intellectualization of grief & grieving, this album is part of my grieving & growing process.
No audio effects were added to these recordings, the goal was to sound like I was playing an acoustic guitar in the room with you.
Background noise exists--flies buzzing against windows, a washing machine humming in the background, the sound of my partner playing with our dog.
My hope is to capture life--to accept & eMbrace the imperfections. To pull out all the pain & love and to show the listener, "Here, look at it--it's really icky!…Doesn’t it look so painful...and beautiful??”
I've intentionally made this album challenging to access as a response to the state of ART and what is expected of artists in 2024. This album isn't on streaming services, it's only available on bandcamp if you buy the album.
My belief is that if it's important to you to hear this, you'll put money energy into it.
Thank you to all who purchase this album!!
